This report covers the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Various violation of the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers are discussed. With regard to the status of lawyers the Special Representative urges the Government to respect international standards, such as the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.

The ICJ states thatlLawyers cannot function independently in China as the Ministry of Justice has significant control over lawyers, law firms and bar associations and it does not comply with the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
