The present document of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) concerns the situation of the judiciary in China. The ICJ states thatlLawyers cannot function independently in China as the Ministry of Justice has significant control over lawyers, law firms and bar associations and it does not comply with the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
