The present document concerns a manual of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) on the right to a fair trial. This Practitioners Guide provides a systematic overview of the international norms and standards relating to fair trial and due process in the criminal domain. The ICJ states that the right to be tried for a criminal offence by an independent, impartial and competent court in which due process guarantees are observed is a universally recognised and protected right.
