The information in this report is based on various sources, including two visits to Russia by Amnesty International delegates to interview victims of torture and ill-treatment and visit penal institutions. With regard to the right to access to lawyers Amnesty International refers to several principles laid down in the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
