The present document concerns a joint trial observation mission report of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) an the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN). It monitors the hearings of the trial of Haytham Al-Maleh, an 80-year-old prominent Syrian human rights lawyer and former President of the Human Rights Association in Syria (HRAS). The FIDH and the EMHRN refer to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers with regard to the right to access to council.
