The present report of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) is the result of an international fact-finding mission into the death penalty in Uzbekistan. The FIDH states that Several hundreds of men have been sentenced to death and executed since the country became independent in 1991, accused of terrorism or murder with aggravating circumstances, without the chance to argue their rights. The FIDH refers to several violations of the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
