The present document concerns comments of Amnesty International on the provisions of the Arab Convention for the Suppression of Terrorism, also known in English as the Arab Convention for the Combatting of Terrorism (the Convention). Amnesty International is calling for its amendment to ensure that it is consistent with international human rights and humanitarian law. International human rights law and standards provide safeguards before and during trial. In describing such safeguards Amnesty International refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
