The present document of Amnesty International elaborates on the legislation of Spain on incommunicado detention. Amnesty is concerned that people held in incommunicado detention may be deprived of effective access to a lawyer as well as access to a doctor of their own choice, and are unable to inform their family and friends of their detention. Amnesty refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers with regard to the issue of a lack of effective legal assistance.
