The report examines factors impacting the independence of the judiciary and the conditions for ensuring the free and independent exercise of the legal profession in Mozambique, such as the participation of the judiciary in deciding on its budget; court fees; salaries; and the assignment of cases. It includes a brief analysis of the legal and policy framework regulating the judiciary and focuses on the barriers to the access to justice. The Special Rapporteur recalls the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
