This document from the Committee for the Defense of Lawyer asks to urge the government of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of the Philippines to condemn the attacks against lawyers and call for the speedy investigation of these crimes and the prosecution of those accused committing the same. It refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers when stating that lawyers should not be identified with their clients of their client’s causes as a result of the discharge of their functions.
