The present document of Amnesty International concerns the conditions of detention in prisons and prison camps in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.Amnesty states that international standards require that detained persons must have access to the outside world – such as lawyers , families and doctors so that those people can take appropriate action to safeguard the well-being of detainees where their rights are violated. These standards are laid down in the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
