This review is the third public report on the criminal justice system of Kosovo by the Legal Systems Monitoring Section (LSMS). LSMS is part of the Human Rights Division of UNMIK Pillar III (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe – OSCE). The present review covers the period from March through August 2001.
The LSMS refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers in respect to the basic right to legal representation for detainees and persons charged with criminal offences, and the obligations on the authorities through this right.
Furthermore, the LSMS refers to the Basic Principles concerning the conduct of the Defense Council.
