The present document of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) concerns a submission of the ICJ to the Committee against Torture of the 6th Periodic Report of France. In this submission, the ICJ highlights several issues which it believes should be of particular concern to the Committee in its consideration of the French report. The ICJ refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers with regard to the issue of prompt access to a lawyer.
