The International Commission of Jurists said in a statement that it condemned this arrest and investigation under the Sedition Act 1948. This acts restricts the freedom of expression of lawyers and is incompatible with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The application of the Sedition Act is also inconsistent with the UN Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
