In the present press release of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) the ICJ expresses its concerns at the increasing instances of harassment and persecution of lawyers in Belarus following the recent suppression of protests at the outcome of the presidential elections. The ICJ refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers as a valuable source of the right to freedom of expression.
