The present document elaborates on the situation of human rights in Guinea. The Alpha Codé affair is used as a leading case in the report. One of the main opposition leaders, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment after an unfair trial before the CSE, a special court. According to Amnesty International this affair is a good illustration of the state of Guinea’s judicial system, which does nothing to prevent the systematic violation of human rights. Amnesty International refers to several violations of the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
