The present report supplements the main report and the mission reports presented by the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers to the Commission on Human Rights. It aims at reflecting specific situations alleged to be affecting the independence of the judiciary or at violating rights to a fair trial in 52 countries and, in a couple of cases, recent important developments concerning the judiciary. The Special Rapporteur refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
