The present document of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) concerns a letter addressed to the President of Lebanon. The ICJ/CIJL requested that the Government stop all disciplinary proceedings against two lawyers who represented a well-known human rights lawyer. The ICJ draws the attention to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers. The Principles also establish the specific right to freely choose an attorney.
