In the present document Amnesty International examines the case of more than 110 people tried in May 1998, in connection with the attacks on the military barracks in Equatorial Guinea. According to Amnesty, the five-day summary military trial did not respect international standards of fair trial. Amnesty International concludes with recommendations to the government, the UN and international bi-lateral partners, including to act and press for the release of all the prisoners of conscience and to improve the prison conditions of those sentenced in June 1998. Amnesty refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers with regard to a violation of the principles with regard to intimidation of a lawyer.
