The present report of Amnesty International is the latest evaluation, made in light of the legal, judicial and human rights changes that have been introduced in recent years in the country of Saudi Arabia. The report details cases of death row prisoners on whose behalf Amnesty International has campaigned. It also includes testimonies of former detainees, some of whom have been under sentence of death. This report focuses on the aspects of the criminal justice process that facilitate and perpetuate frequent use of the death penalty despite recent legal reforms. The report also highlights the use of the death penalty primarily against foreign workers, women, children and the poor. In light of the overwhelming evidence indicating that executions regularly follow grossly unfair trials, Amnesty International is calling on the authorities to implement the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
