The present report of Amnesty International summarizes the context in which arbitrary arrests in Pakistan and arbitrary transfers to US custody have taken place after the events of 11 September 2001 in the US and then describes specific instances of such human rights violations. It ends with a set of recommendations. Amnesty International urges the Government of Pakistan to abide by several internationally agreed principles of protection of human rights of detainees including those contained in the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
