The present report reflects Amnesty International concerns that the Kenyan authorities have failed to act in compliance with international human rights law and standards and Kenyan law in the investigations following the bombing of a hotel in Kikambala, near the port city of Mombasa in November 2002 and other “terrorist” acts on civilians. In this report Amnesty International makes a number of recommendations calling on the Kenyan authorities to ensure respect for the rule of law and the protection of human rights. Amnesty refers to the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers with regard to the right to legal counsel.
