The present report of Amnesty International examines some of the specific abuses of human rights and of humanitarian law that occurred in the Tetovo region in Macedonia, one of the main centres of the fighting, during the most active phase of the conflict from March to September 2001.Amnesty states that UN member states are expected to conform with UN guidelines, principles and recommendations that, although without the binding force of treaties, aim at assisting the implementation of international obligations in national law. These include the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
