This report of Amnesty International draws on the findings of several visits to Israel and the Occupied Territories by Amnesty International delegates between March and May 2002, as well as other research conducted by the organization. The report focuses on the mass arbitrary detention and ill-treatment of Palestinians during Israeli incursions into Palestinian residential areas after 27 February 2002. Amnesty International refers top the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers as a valuable source of an international standard to the right of access to a lawyer.
