The present report of Amnesty International seeks to highlight the considerable obstacles which human rights defenders face in Belarus in working to defend and promote human rights. It aims to underscore the divergence between the principles set out in the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders and reality. Amnesty International refers to several principles of the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers.
