The present report concerns a fact-finding mission to Belarus by the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers. Issues that are discussed are the state of the administration of justice and in particular the independence and impartiality of the judiciary in Belarus. With regard to the compliance of Belarusian laws with international norms the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers are discussed.
