In the present report the UN Commission on Human Rights welcomes the first report submitted by the Special Rapporteur on the activities relating to his mandate entitled "Independence and impartiality of the judiciary, jurors and assessors and the independence of lawyers". The Commission invites Governments to respect the Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers and to take them into account within the framework of their national legislation and practice.
